Safety is very important in this industry, which is why we do things by the book on every hire. Companies that hire bouncy castles have quite an extensive list of rules and regulation to adhere by. All our castles are tested and come fully insured for your peace of mind (We do not use PIPA scheme). If you have any questions about safety, please get in contact here or call Steve directly on 07902989694.
How do we set up a bouncy castle safely?
- We make sure the electric cables are not causing any hazards.
- We make sure the castle is properly attached to the blower.
- We provide at least 2 mats for extra safety for coming off the castle.
- All anchor points on the castle are secured by steel pegs hammered into the ground.
- We will answer any questions on safe play and you will be given a document to sign which contains helpful information. Update - As terms are now agreed online by the hirer, we no longer need you to sign anything.
- We won't set up in heavy rain or wind speeds exceeding 20mph+
Responsibility - By agreeing to our online booking terms, you (the customer) are responsible for safe play and except liability for any injury occurring under your supervision. If you need advise on how to supervise a bouncy castle, please get in touch. You must have a responsible adult supervising at all times making sure the children adhere to the safety leaflet which is available to download on our safety page. The main 3 rules to lower the risk of injury are - Never overcrowd the inflatable (Maximum of 6 children on an 11ft x15ft castle or castle with a side slide). Never let children climb the walls or on top of slides. Never let children bounce on the front step.
Anchoring a bouncy castle
Anchoring a bouncy castle to the ground is the most important safety factor when hiring a bouncy castle outside. A bouncy castle CAN lift in the air or tip over in high wind. Although if the wind forecast is over 24mph (expected gusts) we can't legally supply you with a bouncy castle. Unfortunately wind gusts can come out of nowhere, so we must secure a castle to the ground at all times just in case. We set up on grass for outside hires and hammer 4 to 6 large pegs into the ground to anchor the inflatable.
Can we set up a bouncy castle on concrete or tarmac?
Yes, we can sometimes set up on concrete or tarmac if you meet the following criteria-
- Schools on a weekend - You must supply your own PE school mats as you'll need mats all across the entrance of the castle, at weekend we just don't have enough mats in peak season. If the hire is on a weekday then we can supply the mats. Using our extra mats (between 8 and 10 needed) will occur a £15 charge.
- Private event (not a school) - Sorry we can't hire on a weekend, but it may be possible on a weekday. You'll need to contact us to check.
Warning! We're aware some cowboy companies are using sandbags to secure a bouncy castle, sandbags do not carry enough weight (only 20%) and should never be used. Just using sandbags will invalidate the insurance and put your children at risk. We can however use sandbags for some party games (which children do not climb on).
So how do we secure the bouncy castle on a hard surface?
We may have to use bolts to secure the bouncy castle, this involves drilling 8mm bolts into the tarmac. We do many schools and pubs this way but some don't like the idea of us drilling holes into the playground. Don't worry, the holes naturally fill themselves in, and we struggle to find them when we come back the next year.
See the photos below for details and more options on securing a bouncy castle outside on hard surfaces. All 3 photos are from different school set ups in Sheffield.
We don't have to drill bolts if we can use a cars wheels both sides (or one side car, one side grass, a fence or a fixed structures. Please call or send photos to 07902989694 for advise.

What about artificial grass?
We can still hammer pegs through the artificial grass but some customers do not want us doing this as the pegs are 1/4 inch thick. We must secure the bouncy castle so please check if any of the photos below can apply to you. If not, please send a photo of your site (and close up of the sides) and we can let you know if it's possible.
Schools, Charities and Events
Over many years we've hired to hundreds of schools and events in Sheffield, Chesterfield and Rotherham. The majority of schools use us over and over again, this is probably because we tick all the boxes they require -
- -Fully Insured equipment
- -Risk assessments available
- -Method Statements available
- -Tested equipment. Manufacture test only, we do not use the PIPA scheme.
If you hire 2 or more inflatables, you will receive 10% off*. (*excludes games and party extras)
Charities
Sorry, we now don't offer any discount for charities or schools. Why? We have kept our prices low with no price increases for 3 years. But our insurance and running cost has increased, so unfortunately it's not possible to reduce prices any more. You will still get 10% when you hire 2 inflatables.
Events
Sorry, since covid-19 we no longer run events for you as seen in the video below, this is due to the reduction in team members and insurance. You must staff each inflatables yourselves with responsible adults.
Generator hire
Generator hire prices
We use a 6.5kva generator which will power up to 4 inflatables. See our generator page here.
Generators run for 6 hours and extra fuel is available starting from £5 per extra hours. Extra fuel is not available online, but we can discuss how much extra fuel you'll need once you've completed your booking. You may not need a generator as we have long extension cords of up-to 50 metres. Cable covers are available (for pathways).
